Buffalo Check Chair

It is time for another furniture transformation for The Fab Furniture Flipping' Contest.

This month's sponsor is:  Fairfield World

Fairfield World is a third generation, family-owned, American business that specializes in upholstery and sewing items. They also share DIY tips and tutorials on their site for all you hard core project creators.

The theme for this month was MIX and MATCH.

I had found a vintage french chair at the flea market and I am  a lover of fabric, so I decided to reupholster my chair for the contest.
Before:

I am not a very good upholsterer, but I decided to bite the bullet and give this chair a new look.
I pulled out my tools:

This chair had individual tacks and then 50 million staples and I wanted to scream after about an hour of removing them!
So Many!
After hours of pulling out the tacks and staples,  I lined the the back and seat with the poly-fill batting that I had ordered from Fairfield.

The next step was to cut out the fabric.  I decided to mix and match different fabrics for this chair.  I used a vintage buffalo check tablecloth and some vintage toile.

I used the original fabric as a pattern.

After stapling the fabric on the back I stapled cardboard, foam and the Fairfield batting.

Disaster struck!  My pneumatic staple gun broke and I had to finish the project with a hand held stapler!  So difficult!

After wanting to cry and to kick my chair, I pulled my self together and got the rest of the fabric stapled on and the braided jute trim glued over the staples.

Pretend you don't see my jaggy edges!

I am proud of myself for finishing this with a hand stapler and for getting the lines almost straight!

Mill Springs Blue

This dresser came to me with great lines, but it was really scratched and dinged up.

Before:

This dresser was very dark and shiny and I thought it would look good in a Springy color that was cheerful.  I pulled out Mill Springs Blue by Benjamin Moore and made it into home-made chalk paint and then started painting away.

After painting the dresser with 2 coats of paint, I distressed it lightly and sealed it with AS dark wax/Linseed oil.

I love how the paint brings out the details and makes this a cheerful dresser now.

I love the curvy front!
