I was looking on Craiglslist awhile back and found this great set of furniture including this cabinet.
Before:
The cabinet was in good condition, but pretty dark and I wanted to lighten it up and make it fresh. I had this picture in my head of it being in a cottage by the sea so I mixed up a light aqua home made chalk paint and got to painting. After painting the cabinet I sealed it with dark wax and hemp oil. I had to take pictures in my driveway (please excuse the lighting) since it was being loaded up and taken to a local antique shop.

Patricia
Thank you Patricia-I have the matching buffet in my dinning room and love everything about it. I did a post about it awhile back on my blog
DeleteLove, love, love this! Don't tell my husband! He would be jealous! (because if I found this cabinet first I might have married it instead of him) You took a pretty piece and made it drop dead gorgeous. What are you going to do with it now?
ReplyDeleteThank you-I won't tell your husband-it will be our little secret! A local dealer loved it and took it into her shop and I have it posted on Craigslist. Once I am done with a piece and want it gone so I have room for new pieces!
DeleteThis color is absolutely perfect! I love how your cabinet turned out.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer- I am happy with it too!
DeleteSuch a pretty colour and the piece is lovely. I have a dark sideboard waiting next in line in our garage for a makeover. I'm trying to decide between white, black or a pretty aqua. The color will depend on whether I decide to keep it or sell it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth-if you keep it what color are you going with? If you sell it what color?
DeleteI love these old pieces with their gorgeous chunky legs. Love the color too!
