My daughter does Korean Martial Arts and they often break boards in class, so we have a pile of broken boards around the house. My daughter likes to bring them home and then she loses interest in them so they end up in my office. My friend Suzan came over today and wanted to work on a Valentine project/cards. I printed out some great valentine pictures from the Graphics Fairy on to card stock and we made some cheery cards. She likes to embellish with glitter and they were very cute. I had stacked a pile of broken boards from karate by the door to be recycled when I had a crafty thought. I thought it would be fun to make some Valentines cards with the boards.
Here are a few broken karate boards:
I painted the boards a few different colors:
Got out some of my tools:
Twine and scissors holder from Decor Steals |
Lower case stamps from the Flea Market |
Martha Stewart Glitter Pens |
I don't have a lot of patience for waiting so I got out my hair dryer and dried the boards and then Modge Podged the images onto the boards ( I used my dryer again to dry faster--impatient me).
My friend Suzan and I added glitter on some of the details to make them pop and we stamped sayings on the boards as well.
I added twine to the backs so they could be hung:
I love how they turned out with all the imperfections and I had fun with Suzan!

This is so cute! My daughter used to do karate, and I'll have to check and see if she still has her boards. Maybe she'll share if we make something for her room! Dee :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great way to reuse the boards, these are super cute! Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY...
