Beachy Blue Serpentine Dresser

Once again I found a great dresser at my local Flea Market--Love that place!  This dresser needed some work, but had beautiful bones and I fell in love with the curvy drawers.
Before:
I took the 2 drawers out before I took a before picture!
Missing 2 handles

Chipping veneer

Gross top

Painted sides

The first thing I did was fill in the missing veneer on the top.  I was going to strip the entire top and sand it down, but I did not have the energy or good weather so filler did the job.
I painted the dresser with white chalk paint and then painted it with a custom beachy blue color.  I wanted to see the white under the blues when distressing so that is why I painted with two colors. My next step was to wet distress with a sanding block/sponge.  I love it when both the wood and the under color shows.  Waxing was the last step.

Glass knobs for the top drawer

I love when both the wood and under color show

Gorgeous beveled mirror

My favorite topiary

I swoon over the curvy drawer!

I really love how this turned out! I wish I had room in my house for it.

  1. Nice job! That is a wonderful color of blue...though I'm partial to blues. :) You definitely had your work cut out for you with that veneer.

  3. Wow! I really love that blue color. It does look beachy to me! I hate working with that cracked veneer- about the only thing you can do is either peel it all off and sand it down or fill it in with wood filler. xo Diana
