Red and White Bench

I was scouring my local Thrift stores when I spied this broken grungy bench.  It had great legs and I knew it could be very cute, so I bought it of course.
Before:

After fixing the broken middle post I pulled out piles of fabric from my stash to get inspiration.  Farm look?  Frenchy look?  Chippy look? Beach look?  So many choices and for some reason I was having a hard time deciding ( this does not happen very often to me when it comes to furniture!)  Luckily my friend Suzan came over and she said I should go with the French Country red fabric and paint the bench creamy white, so that is what I did.
I mixed up some home made white chalk paint (Garlic Clove by Benjamin Moore bought at Kings Paint) and started to paint the bench.  While the paint was drying I reupholstered the top with the fabulous red and white fabric.  Distressing was next and then sealing the bench with clear AS wax.

I love anything red and white so this made me very happy!

  9. Hi Darrielle,
Isn't it awesome all the great treasures one can find at the thrift store? Even if they are diamonds in the rough. The bench turned out great. Love the choice of fabric.

    Hugs and Kisses.
