Striped Bench

I found this piano bench a few months ago and it has been siting in my workshop for awhile waiting......
Before:

As you can see it had some issues but also has good lines.  I didn't want to fix the veneer problems and wanted to make a padded bench so I pulled out some foam and cut it to size.  I next picked out my fabric and decided to go with a beachy blue striped heavy upholstery fabric that I had in my stash.  I mixed up creamy white
home-made chalk paint and painted the bench.  After distressing a little I waxed.

I nailed shut the bunch so the top would not move.  After gluing on the foam with spray adhesive I got to upholstering the bench.  When it was done I thought it needed something else for interest and I love pom poms so I added them to the bench.

I like how it turned out!

  2. That is so so cute. I love it- especially when you can remake something where the veneer is wrecked. Perfect job on this piece! xo Diana

  6. Very pretty, Darrielle. The pom poms are a great touch. I have so many upholstering projects and I keep saying tomorrow I will do it and that tomorrow never come.
