Artemis and Hermes--How I aged them

My Daughter has always had  a keen interest in Greek Mythoogy and we have read many stories and books about all the gods and goddesses through the years.  This year in her class they are also learning about the Greeks.  At the Flea Market I found these 2 busts of Hermes and Artemis and knew I had to bring them home. 
Before:

I wanted to age the busts and I had an idea in my head about how to do this.  The busts are made of plaster and pretty heavy and I know plaster is porous so I thought I would try using my hemp oil/dark wax combo. to age them.  I figured the oil would seep into the plaster and give some effect, but I wasn't sure what.  I figured if I didn't like it I could always paint over them.  I poured some hemp oil in a small container and then dipped my brush in it and then dipped it into AS dark wax and brushed the mixture on the busts.  I then wiped the extra off and I love how it turned out.  The oil/wax seeped in and stained the pieces differently in different places and I love how it looks.

Artemis

Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Her twin brother is Apollo . She is the lady of the wild things. She is the huntsman of the gods. She is the protector of the young. Like Apollo she hunts with silver arrows. She became associated with the moon. She is a virgin goddess, and the goddess of chastity. She also presides over childbirth, which may seem odd for a virgin, but goes back to causing Leto no pain when she was born. She became associated with Hecate. The cypress is her tree. All wild animals are scared to her, especially the deer.

Hermes:

Hermes

Hermes is the son of Zeus and Maia. He is Zeus messenger. He is the fastest of the gods. He wears winged sandals, a winged hat, and carries a magic wand. He is the god of thieves and god of commerce. He is the guide for the dead to go to the underworld. He invented the lyre, the pipes, the musical scale, astronomy , weights and measures, boxing, gymnastics, and the care of olive trees.

I am loving how they look and how easy it was to age them!
