Hidden Desk

I have been away most of the week at the lake water skiing and so I missed Friday at the Flea Market-my favorite day to go.  I did however make it to the Flea on Sunday morning and I found this dingy dark desk/table.

This piece has great details and lines and I knew with some TLC it could be very pretty.  I love how it looks like a table,  then the top can be flipped open to reveal a desk.
I decided to go with light grey for the outside and white on the inside.  Since the insides are hard to get to with a paintbrush I spray painted with flat white and then did the final coats with homemade chalk paint in Garlic Glove by Benjamin Moore.  I mixed up a light grey homemade chalk paint for the outside.  After the paint had dried I distresses and sealed the desk/table with dark wax/hemp oil on the outside and clear wax on the inside.

    1. Thank you Sherri--water skiing is so much fun, but it sure makes me sore-getting old I suppose. I am glad I was able to make it to the Flea on Sunday and find a treasure.

  4. This would be a great place to hide money & small valuables, especially if you covered its top with a runner or cloth. I love it! You did a great job on it & love the color.
