Chippy Dresser painted in MMS Kitchen Scale

Last week at the Flea Market I found this beat up dresser and brought it home.  I am finding it harder to find dressers to buy lately, so I snatched this one up quickly.
Before:
Missing knobs and scratched up

I wanted to use milk paint and so I grabbed Miss Mustard Seed's Kitchen Scale milk paint and mixed it up.  I painted 2 coats and then let the chippy magic happen!  I scraped away all the flakes of paint and sealed the dresser with hemp oil.

I love the variations in color from the pigments in the paint-I purposely paint with chunks of the milk paint to get the variations.  The bottom of my paint container is chunky with pigments when I run out of paint and I paint them on to get the variations in color.  I like this look, but it is not for everyone I suppose.

Sign I made-in a sign mood lately!

Love the crackle and chippiness!

Color variations!

  5. It's beautiful and the pieces I see around the net done in milk paint are also pretty....but.......I think I am too uptight to use it....I paint with such a heavy hand and my natural tendency is to paint with full coverage! Maybe I should have a few cocktails to loosen up and then give the milk paint a try! :)

    1. Thanks Robin-I always think painting with a cocktail is better-ha ha! I like the the milk paint to be thick and not to be able sot see the wood through it except for the chips! I say go for it!
