Long Buffet for My Husband's Office
As you know I have been working on pieces for my husband's new office and I found this very large (6 feet long) and dingy buffet at the Flea Market and it was the perfect size for his office.
Before:
The piece is going in the reception area when you walk in and will have coffee and a few other things on it. I wanted the top to be natural wood, so I sanded it down and sealed it with dark wax and hemp oil. My next step was to mix up some home-made chalk paint in Garlic Glove by Benjamin Moore. After painting the buffet, I distressed and sealed it with clear wax. The top is really beautiful and so buttery smooth!
I was not able to take good photos since it was loaded up quickly and taken to the office so please excuse the poor quality.
I haven't seen the buffet in the office yet, but my husband and his team love it and they say it looks great!

ReplyDeleteThanks Donna- I will have to go over to the office soon and check it out. I just finished a table and got him a rug. Still more to do but getting close to being done. Nothing like a free decorator!
DeleteI love all of your pieces, you do such great work! I noticed that you home made your chalk paint and wondered if you would share with me what your recipe is for chalk paint?
ReplyDeleteThank you Bobbi-Painting is my thing as well as junkin! For my chalk paint I use Plaster of Paris. I add 2 big scoops to an old yogurt container ( recoiling-ha ha) and then add water until it is like running pancake batter. I then add 3 part of flat paint and mix up and paint away. It is easy and cost effective!
DeleteGreat piece. Perfect for a office. I bet his office looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful night :-)
