Right before Thanksgiving I found this "adorable" dresser at the Flea Market:

The vision I had for the dresser was a hand painted design that was simple yet beautiful-inspired by the Nordic look. I mixed up grey chalk paint that had hint of blue and painted the dresser. I then hand painted a design on the drawers with white chalk paint and distressed. The last step was to seal the dresser with AS clear wax.

DeleteYou did an amazing job as usual. I did have a question: did you apply the hemp oil to the top first before the wax, please?
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie-I actually add them at the same time--I dip my brush in the oil and then the wax and brush on to my piece. I then wipe the mixture in to the wood and any excess off. Try it sometime-its fast and easy!

DeleteYour less then perfect dresser chest is absolutely wonderment. Your paint finish charms in the best way it could on any piece. I love that your painted details is of natural hand work rather then a perfect line of stenciling, you have created a French Bleu cottage chest that would charm any room in my home. I so need to introduce some colour again to my neutral patina of tone on tone, especially when I see pieces you have created here.

Thank you Dore-I love doing hand painted creative pieces that are one of kind. I sometimes have a hard time giving things up, but most of the time its about the hunt and process. I do rotate pieces in my home often as I transform so I feel that I am getting new things often. Your home is stunning, but I agree color can be good too!

DeleteIt's absolutely gorgeous, my painting friend! I looked for two years for a dresser that was old to put my undies and socks and gowns in. Never did find one. Finally had to order a composite one because I had to put them somewhere. Wish we lived closer.

ReplyDeleteThank you-I love the wood top too-for the base I mixed some grey and blue together until I got a color that I thought would have the look I was going for. I usually have a picture in my head of the end product and then try to make it look that way.
