Coastal Bliss Vanity/Desk

As you know I love to hunt for and paint furniture so here is another find from the week.
Before:

This desk/vanity was very sturdy and had great bones and I had just bought Coastal Bliss by  The Urban Rooster and thought this would be the perfect piece to go for a beach look.  I am personally partial to beachy since I live by the beach in CA.

After a good sanding, the top of this desk was ready for hemp oil/dark wax.  I love the ease and smooth finish of this.   After painting the piece with 2 coats of Coastal Bliss, I distressed it so the white and the dark wood would both show.  I sealed it with AS clear wax and added back the original knobs.

Wood Top

Layered look

I did a quick transformation on this frame using paint and paper

Love the drawer detail and the knobs

Distressed look

    1. Thank you Debbie-I picked the frame up from the thrift store and the font had ugly paper so I peeled it off and then traced it on new paper and glued it. For the pop of aqua I just painted the back part that opens. It was very simple and easy, but I was lucky that the front paper came off so easy.

  12. Love the colors on this one! Very pretty! Are you using the hemp oil & wax together to make a "glaze type consistency" when you topcoat? Just curious because it turns out so well, and I've always used mineral spirits. Would love to know if there's a difference in dry time too? Thanks:D

    1. Thank you Cindy-I do kind of make a glaze thing with the oil and wax. I pour a little oil in a container and then dip my brushing the oil and then directly in the wax tin and brush on the piece. It goes on sort of like paint and I then rub in/off with a cloth. it is very easy and fast and I can control the dark wax this way. Try it and you will love it!
