French Country Grey Chairs

During my weekly visit to the thrift store I found these great chairs and brought them home.  
Before:
They had great lines and details, but were to dark and had many scratches and dings in the wood.  I mixed up a grey home-made chalk paint and started to paint away.  For the seats I decided to paint them with a wash.  I took some of the same paint and put it in another container.  I also had a container of just water.  I dipped my brush in the water and then the paint and painted this water-paint mixture right on the rushing of the seats.  It worked like a charm! 

 After distressing, I sealed the chairs with dark wax/hemp oil mixture and was done.

    Oh to have Thrift Stores like yours! The ones out here in southwest Louisiana have lots of cheap smalls but no furniture. :( great job on the chairs! Success with your sales! Linda@Wetcreek Blog

    The photos of before wouldn't come up but love the look of after, great save on those chairs. Smart move painting the rush seats as you did. Somebody will love them for their home. Found you thru Silver pennies Sundays Link Party.
