Grey French Provincial Dresser

The past 2 weeks I seem to have purchased many dressers and so I have been busy painting.
Before:
I bought this dresser at the Flea Market and even though it was dinged up and missing hardware I knew it needed to come with me for some paint therapy.  I thought this dresser would look good in grey and white, so I mixed up some grey chalk paint and my brush started to go to town!  After the grey was dry, I handprinted some of the details in white and then sealed it with dark wax/hemp oil.

I seem to add wreaths to many of my photos-they always look good!

Cutie-Pie legs

Lovely handles

I like how dark wax adds character and age

Rust anyone?

  1. Well if I was there I'd be buying one of your dressers. Cause I looked for over two years and finally just broke down and bought a cheapie one to put together for a place to put my undies! That one is a beauty and such a pretty color!

  3. "Paint therapy?" I love that term. You did a great job on this one. Most of us would've passed it by never seeing the beauty below the dings and dents.

I noticed the wreath right and thought that I need to add a wreath to my armoire.

  6. One beautiful makeover. Did you use the hemp oil over the dark wax?

    1. Thank you Linda-I actually dip my brush in hemp oil and then right in the dark wax and brush on the furniture. I can control the darkness of the wax this way and it just goes on quicker since it is liquified some what.

  10. Great looking dresser! And, the wreath made me smile...I have one just like it, with the same ribbon and all, that I purchased from Marion (Miss Mustard Seed) at the Chapel Market. I keep moving it around all over the place...

  13. What shade of grey is that it seems to have a little bit of blue undertone to it, I love how it turned out and how the dark wax get into the cracks and makes it look old.
