How to re-do candlesticks with gilding wax and chalk paint

Last week I found this set of candlesticks by Pottery Barn at the Goodwill and I knew they needed to come home with me.

Before:
They are made of mostly wood and and in good shape , but were just too dark for my taste.  I decided to paint them with the same aqua paint that I painted the French Vanity  with.  After  2 coats of paint I finger rubbed on gilding wax and then sealed and aged the candlesticks with dark wax/hemp oil.

I love gold with pink dried roses

You can see here how the wax/oil mix rubbed off the gilding wax in a good way
