Last week I found this great buffet/dresser on CL and brought it home.
Before:
This piece is by Drexel and very well made and structurally in great shape, but the finished was very scratched up and stained. The lady I bought it from said it had been her grandmother's.
I really liked the last buffet/dresser I painted black and I decided to go for it again. I mixed up Typewritter milk paint by Miss Mustard Seed and got to painting. After painting on two coats, I let it dry. Since this piece was so old and dry it did not chip and I am glad. I distressed the edges and then sealed the dresser with Linseed oil. I decided that the brass hardware looked great with the black and so I just put it right back on.
Don't you love my fingerprints??!!! |

DeleteGorgeous piece, Darrielle. Whoever bought it is very lucky. :D I'm currently painting two file cabinets with Typewriter, and it's so weird how it looks completely different on each piece! Milk paint always keeps me guessing. haha
ReplyDeleteThank you-I think my piece looks dark because I used Lindseed oil and it made a rich moody black!
