Before:
The pair had great bones and lines, but were in the need of a makeover pretty badly. I pulled out some of my The Urban Rooster chalk paint that I had custom mixed from Jaded Rooster and Marshmallow Cream and painted on two coats. I got out an artist brush and painted the details in white and then sealed the pair with dark wax and tung oil. I wanted the tables to have an aged look. I also rubbed paint on the handles with my finger (they had strange fasteners that I could not loosen to remove the handles).
Pretty detail |
I think the lovely pair will look good in someones bedroom!

DeleteDarrielle, I have not forgotten about you my dear, I have not made as many visits to friend suffering sinus and illness for weeks, getting on the mend and so glad to see you have visited me.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love GoodWill? You know the prices are often really good for what you find, and worth a purchase to up style them like what you have done here.
I bought a similar dresser type as yours once and redid it over for a friends daughters room, to also lessen its look and era of time, I removed all its embellishments with a hammer and chisel and sanded a bit of the embeds placement not working to much that that worn placement may show up through the paints but after a bit of paint and distressing to the piece the wear to it brought out a more non look of its time line dating itself to less then it's dated time to a more plain French farmhouse feel. Plus the embellishments come to good use on future art and theatre projects I create using all the scraps for its new design.
Love that you soften the hardware something I've been doing as well.
They are pieces now to love.
Thank you again for your beautiful time in visiting me.
Xoxo
See you at the beach :)
