A few weeks ago I found this great empire style dresser at the Flea Market and brought it home.
Before:
This dresser had great bones, but was dinged and banged up and needed a bit of care. Kitchen Scale by Miss Mustard Seed is one of my favorite colors and so this dresser got a milk paint treatment.
After 2 coats of milk paint the chippy magic started to happen and I helped it along with my spackle knife. The last step was to seal it with AS dark wax/tung oil!
Love the legs with the wooden castors |
I decided to keep the hardware that came with the dresser |
I love Empire style furniture. I have 2 waiting in my "to do" queue. The milk paint color you chose is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara-I love empire style furniture too!

DeleteGreat find, in a great color---so nice to have to do NOTHING to it. LOL. Sandi
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandi-I love the color and I did paint it with MMS milk paint, but it is nice to find pieces that you don't have to do any thing too.
DeleteGorgeous! You know I love that color too. I haven't used it in a while, but I have a very dark dresser waiting to be painted and your post reminds me how well Kitchen Scale covers on a dark piece. I might just have to pull that color out again!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda-it really is one of my favs! Cant wait to see yours

DeleteWhat a beautiful dresser. You sure can't beat the vintage furniture for quaility and design. I love the color, it gives this piece new life.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debra-I agree that vintage furniture is the best!
DeleteThe Empire Revival style is great in terms of bones but rather heavy visually. I just finished a library table in that style. I really like how the Kitchen Scale lightened her up. It makes her a fun, statement piece. I saw your link at the Vintage Inspiration Party. Ann Marie @ Iris Abbey www.irisabbey.com
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann Marie-I love how kitchen scale looks on pieces!
DeleteAnother stunning makeover! That color is sooo yummy. I have an empire style drop leaf desk waiting for a makeover and I could picture it in this color and finish. Thanks for sharing at Friday's Furniture Fix.
