Green Desk for My Daughter

I have been working on changing up my daughter's cottage  and updating it for a teenager.  She wanted bold and colorful with a beach twist so I am working on that!
Before:
I found this desk at a thrift store and it was the perfect size for the space.  I sanded down the top and sealed it with AS dark wax.  I wanted a vibrant green for the desk so I mixed up some paint colors until I got what I was going for and then I made it into chalk paint. To seal the paint I used dark wax/hemp oil.  I changed out the knobs for some turquoises ones I had and then called it done!

New knobs

Love the old castors even if I did get paint on them by mistake!

I love the top now!
Here is the chair I did to go with the new desk:

I love how the desk turned out and the green is what I wanted!

  7. Your daughter must love it, I know I sure do !!
You know when I visit you and see all the wonderfully salvaged and painted pieces and especially the pieces that add colour to a room, it has been tugging me in that direction. I find myself wanting to add colour. I was at Marshals a retail store with a great pillow selection starting there I found great pillows perfect colours, yet after a good look I ended up leaning towards the black and cream print, I know not enough colour so I left with thoughts of waiting to see if that perfect pillow tone would soon arrive. I am going to attempt to add colour her and there, keeping it still muted though.... Will see what plays out here with my adding colour.

I hope we get to see the desk in your daughters cottage room, sweetly placed.

Thank you for your beautiful visit, and taking the time to comment encouraging why I love to blog so.

  8. Thank you Dore-I love how calming your spaces feel and I have a lot of neutrals around my house too, but I do love me some color so I try to add it when I can. My daughter for sure loves color and does not want neutral so this is a great place to go bold for me. Have a great day!

  11. How lovely!! My favorite part is that you can still see a hint of the wood grain under the paint. That must be because of the wax? Either way, love it!!

    1. Thank you April-The dark wax gives that aged look and it also made the green a deeper shade.
