FAB Cabinet Makeover

It's time for another Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest project...

The theme for this month's contest is "A FRESH START" and I had this broken cabinet that I have been wanting to fix up for awhile.

Before

This months sponsor is  General Finishes and we got to paint with their new chalk style paint.

(*Disclaimer:  I received product from them for use in this challenge, but all opinions are my own)

My Cabinet had a broken door, many scratches and broken details, so I had my work cut out for me. To repair the broken bow detail I loosely shaped some joint compound and let it dry.  When it was almost dry I shaped it more precisely  with a thin scalpel and my fingernail. I also repaired the broken door with wood glue and clamps.

I have used General Finishes milk paint before and loved it, so I was excited to use their new chalk style paint.    I ordered Key West Blue from General Finishes and loved the bright turquoise color.  I decided to to lighten the blue color with white chalk paint to get a soft aqua color for the outside of the cabinet.  I painted the cabinet in two coats of this soft blue and the coverage and ease were fantastic.

For the inside of the cabinet I just used the Key West Blue from the can and love the bold color.

I wanted the details on the doors to pop, so I painted them in white chalk paint with a small artist paintbrush.

The last steps were to distress the edges of the cabinet with my scraper and seal the entire piece with Linseed Oil and AS dark wax.

I am swooning over the details on the door!

I kept the original hardware

Gorgeous legs!

I love that the top two drawers pull out for easy access and storage.

I adore the two aqua colors together!

I am lovin' General Finishes new paint!
