What I did with my dried roses

As you know I like to have fresh flowers around my house all the time, and when roses start to die I like to dry them by hanging them upside down in my office.  I sometimes use the dried roses for props and decorations, but most of the time I throw them away after awhile.
After packing Christmas up, my house was looking a bit bare, so I decided to make a garland out of the dried roses to add some color to my buffet. I pulled out some rough twine, my hot glue gun and some dried roses and got to creating!

After cutting the roses off the stem, I just hot-glued them to the twine and was DONE!

I love the pinks and blues together!

  5. I love it. I've made one before, but my garden roses are so weak that all I can do it lay them. Maybe I should try again with some that I dry from the store, because that type doesn't do well in my garden, but seem to be stronger. xoxo Su

  6. I had copied another blogger (June at Laughing at Angels) and made a garland before. They are lovely and with your choice of twine I really like how it adds a rustic flair to the elegance of pretty pink. I gave mine away and now I want to make another one for Valentines Day. Nice share.

  7. Oh and I want to add I will make mine for VD day with spray roses from Trader Joes, less costly and when dried hold their petals really well.

  13. Such a lovely area of your home D. I really am in love with that chest. Love the blue so much!

I love to do this with my roses too. Come to think of it though, I need to throw out the ones hanging around the house now and make some new ones. Mine are looking too shabby to even be chic! I just can't throw a dried rose away without making sure there's no beauty at all left in it.

  15. Oh Darrielle,
I love the dried roses on the twine for the makings of a rose garland....this is genius and I so will make one. I often say that I am drawn to roses with very little life left in them, more so then a fresh bouquet. Love at this lifeless beauty adding such age to its buffet strung freely across. It really has taken on its own vintage romance.

I love this entry to seeing this amazing French Bleu finish to the buffet, I have a Nordic French two door cabinet that was this very similar paint colour until I stripped it down to its naked and washed it with white and grey. The paint finish you gave this buffet really truely makes me kind of miss my Bleu see yours here.

After packing away Christmas and inspired to create a rose garland, I bet next year your rose garlands could even drape on your trees. I have a friend who dries out her roses buy keeping a full bunch in a vase of water, refilling it as they bloom and fade to drying out in a vase of water, they keep there viberent colours and almost feel like old cotton dies roses. Seriously your garland did just that in replacing a bit of decor or garland decor after a Christmas decor faded.

    Love, love, love your style.
You need to do a home tour so we (I) can see every inch of the cottage beauty you create here.

    Xx

    1. Thank you Dore-I love the crinkled colors of dried roses and I keep them around a lot. I think make a garland for Christmas is genius! I love the pop of blue in my buffet since most of my big furniture is white. I like having lots of neutral with pops of pretty colors around my house ( I change the pops often too! ). I did tour for Fall and a mini one for Christmas and I will try to do one for Spring. I am working on improving my photography skills!
