Favorite 10 Posts of 2015



Looking back at 2015 through the eyes of my blog has been interesting and fun.  It is goof  for me to remember some of the projects I did this year that I have forgotten about in all the busyness of life.

 Fall Blog Tour






This was my first home tour and I am grateful to Brenda Cozy Little House  for asking me to join the tour.  



 We finished a remodel/addition on our 100+ year old cottage/farmhouse at the beginning of the summer.  





I re-vamped this dresser for The Fab Furniture Flipping Contest and I love how it turned out! 


This was a fun painting project!

Moody Dresser/Buffet





I am back from my mini blogging break!  It was nice to just be home and spend time with my family and be off of social media.  

 I found this great dresser/buffet on CL and it had beautiful bones and potential, but was in need of some TLC. 
Before:
It was missing some veneer on the top and a few pieces near the bottom.  I have never painted a piece of furniture black, but for some reason this piece told me it needed to be black.  I had ordered Typewriter by  Miss Mustard Seed awhile back and decided to use this color milk paint on this piece.  I thought the black and chippy might disguise some of the veneer issues since I wasn't about to remove it all. 
I painted the buffet/dresser with 2 coats of the milk paint and let the chippy magic happen. 


I sealed it with tung oil and it made the matte black rich, dark and moody like I wanted.  
The top is the milk paint without oil and the bottom has the oil added-big difference!

Making a Fresh Wreath/Swag from Tree Trimmings



When we got our tree this year I saved some of the branches my husband cut off the bottom.  I knew I could use them for a few things.

First I pulled out a hanger from my husband's dry cleaning, took off the cardboard and bent it into a circle shape. 

I then wrapped small branches around the wire, overlapping the branches as I went.  If I had floral wire, I would have used it, but the branches stayed just fine. 



I added a ribbon and few apples (being a teacher and all)! 



I also made a few fresh swags for my bathroom



I love using the free greenery around my home during Christmas!
