Before:
It was a well made vintage dresser that was all dinged and scratched up, but ready for a new look. I thought this dresser would look good in a chippy milk paint so I mixed together a few of Miss Mustard Seeds milk paints in her blues for a custom color. I wanted the top to be natural wood, so I sanded the top and stained it with AS dark wax and some hemp oil. After painting a few coats of milk paint the chippy magic happened and I scraped the loose chips off and sealed the dresser with dark wax/hemp oil. The final step was adding glass knobs (dlawlesshardware.com) to the dresser to give it a little pizazz!
Looking good with some pink! |

ReplyDeleteHow pretty that turned out to be! What a great transformation...I probably would have walked right by that piece at the yard sale. You staged the piece beautifully with those flowers, too. Great job!

Thank you Judy-I love having fresh flowers in my house every week and they do make for easy and beautiful photos!
DeleteThis looks great, you have done a wonderful job. I just love transforming garage sale goodies. The glass knobs are lovely, where did you get them from? I have been going to the markets every week to get flowers and it's amazing how clean and fresh they just make a space feel. I really like your choice of flowers :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa-I got the knobs at http://www.dlawlesshardware.com. and they were a good deal. TJ is a good place for me when I do not get a bouquet from the local florist. Lately I have been making my own arrangements.
DeleteLoooove! The glass knobs just make it even prettier.
ReplyDeleteKris

ReplyDeleteThank you Julie-it does look so much better now!
DeleteI found you through Curtains in my Tree - and oh lucky me - I just love the paint job you did - really authentic looking, which is very hard to achieve. Thanks so much for sharing your creative talent.
ReplyDeleteBig hug
Elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth-Milk paint is fun to paint with since it is unpredictable and you never get the same look.
DeleteCan I just say how jealous I am that you got to go to a yard sale in January! Sigh. Here in Minnesota, we just dream of yard sales this time of year, and know that they are still rather far away.
ReplyDeleteThanks Quandie-the weather is in the 70s here is CA by the beach so there have been a few yard sales. There will be more in the Spring for sure!
DeleteAMAZING! I would have never looked at that dresser twice! You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteThank you-I like old dresser as long as they have good bones and this one did for sure!
DeleteYou did a great job; it looks beautiful. I have an empire-style table and dresser that I'd like to try in this manner, with a lightened wood top and a blue body. I saw your link at the Vintage Inspiration Party. Ann Marie @ Iris Abbey www.irisabbey.com
