Coral-Pink, Chippy and Gorgeous

I have a thing about dressers and transforming them and have painted MANY, but I have to admit this is one of my all time favorites!
Before:
The dresser looks worse in real life with some issues, but good bones

I found this dresser at the Flea Market this past week and brought it home.  This may sound crazy, but I wait for a piece to speak to me about what color to paint it.  The vision in my head was of Apron Strings milk paint by Miss Mustard Seed.  I love this color even though I am not really a pink person.

I painted on 2 coats of milk paint and then hand painted the details in white with a small artist brush. I did not use any bonding agent and wanted to have it chip.  I defiantly got my wish of chippiness!  The last step for me was to seal it with dark wax/hemp oil.

I love the variation in milk paint-reminds me of  a sunset!

I added this mirror from another dresser

Chippiness at its best!

Great hardware

Swoon!

Lovely legs and castors

I am in LOVE!

    1. Thank you Sherri--I love love love too! I want to keep it, but do not have room. I sell my dressers on CL. For me painting is my hobby and therapy so I do it for fun and when I am done with a piece I want it gone.

  7. The style of that dresser, the mirror you added, the color and casters/hardware, it's what I've been looking for. I can handle some chippiness but not quite that much. It's a personal preference I know. Not dogging your paint job, just a comment. I know that some areas of country people really love chippier look, not so here in Grand Junction, CO. You did a great job making her pretty again. Love how you did the little details in white. Happy weekend.

  25. Darrielle, You did an amazing job on your dresser. It truly turned out beautiful. I was wondering how you used the hemp oil and wax. What order you used them and why both. I have wanted to order some hemp oil because what I have read there are so many uses for it. I just thought that you would use one or the other.
And thank you for everything you share. You are so inspiring .
