The Farm Table from the Barn

I responded to an ad. on CL about a farm table and I was not disappointed.
Before:

This unique table and bench were from the barn on a  beautiful piece of property.  The owner's grandmother had passed and they were cleaning our her barn and were selling this set.

I fell in love with the legs and the wide plank tops.  The legs remind me of a giraffe for some reason!

The pieces were very dried out and the old varnish was peeling off.  I sanded down the bench and the table to bare wood.

To seal and stain the set all I used was AS dark wax/Linseed oil.  I just brush the mixture on and rub it in/off with a cloth.

I love all the scratches and imperfections in the beautiful wood.

I love the scalloped edges of the bench and table

Giraffe legs!

Such a great set now!

  5. Wow, the before pics would have scared me off. You did a great job refurbishing it so it did not end up as firewood!

  10. Your table and bench are to die for, Darrielle--so simple, but beautiful. I'm interested in your wax/linseed oil combo. Do you mix them together and then apply? How long does it take to cure? Thanks so much for linking up your posts at Vintage Charm :)
