I recently Re-Did my daughter room since she is pre-teen with lots of opinions. She wanted a Red and Aqua color scheme--Love the color combo!
Here is her new Frenchy bed. I found it on CL and is an antique bed that the lady had painted white for her little girl but then decided she did not want. I got it for a very good price.
( sorry I can not find the before pictures!)
I mixed up my own custom color in my home-made chalk paint and painted away. I added Rub n Buff in antique gold on the edges and hand painted the details in old white. The next step was adding AS dark wax to the piece to age it. I love how it turned out!
I noticed the drips after I took the picture and took care of those but don't have a picture |
My daughter is very happy with her new bed!

ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love the color, the white details and the dark wax. I bet your daughter loves it!
ReplyDeleteThis bed is gorgeous! I love the detail of white you added. I am currently painting a bed similar, yet not quite so detailed. Did you use chalk paint & wax? I am trying wax for the first time over cream and was wondering if you used both clear wax and antiquing wax. I hope mine turns out half that pretty!
ReplyDeleteHow darling! I really love the red and blue together. Your daughter has a great eye!

Oh my gosh that bed is divine!! I have been looking for exactly this for my bedroom makeover. I am in New Zealand and French antiques cost an arm and a leg, for something like this it is over $3,000. You have done a fantastic job painting it. I am currently creating a home office and taking on an understated French theme, I am looking for a desk to paint in Paris Grey and currently deciding on which rug to purchase. I have two on loan, both Turkish, overdyed, vintage but one is patchwork. I am leaning towards the grey/beige/hint of duck egg one which is not patchwork. My husband said "I just don't get it"...looking at the worn rug and the dollar signs :). I have just discovered your blog and like your style so will definitely visit again. I will be posting my office makeover in a few weeks time.

ReplyDeleteI hope I can find a deal like you did, I have been looking on CL for a master bedroom head and footboard. You did an amazing job on it! I hope your daughter loves her room, you have been working so hard for her! I am slowly getting to my daughters room. A little at a time. I am afraid she will be in college before I finish! She graduates this June and really is going to college in September!
ReplyDeleteWe are doing gray and white. just need to get the armoires painted and the curtains finished. And the ceiling moulding and ...

Betsy
