I have a client who wanted a Frenchy pink bed for her daughter and she asked me to find one and custom paint it for a bedroom re-do. I found a double French Provincial Headboard and she was excited.
Before:
She wanted it to have pink and white and be Frenchy and she said I could do it however I envisioned it. The picture I had in my head was an aged pink and white striped headboard with gold and a monogram.
I mixed up a light pink home-made chalk paint and started to paint. After the paint had dried I got out painters tape and marked off my stripes. I painted the stripes in white.
I painted the top edge in gold Rub n Buff. I also distressed the edges and front of the headboard. I painted a white oval in the middle and painted on a French script E. Next I painted around the oval with gold Rub n Buff for an added extra detail. After distressing I didn't like how pink the pink was so I made a wash out of watered down white paint. I painted the wash on the pink and wiped it off and it gave a great weathered and aged look to the solid pink. I kept feathering in the wash until I got the right pink look. I then aged the headboard with hemp oil and dark wax.

I like that it looks old and beat up |
You can see the white wash here |
My Client loves it and so do I!
