Frenchy Grey Desk-From grunge to Gorgeous!

I was taking my daughter to summer camp and right before I took off I decided to check  Craiglslist.  I say an ad for a grungy desk that I wanted.  After contacting the seller, I asked my husband ( he owes me big time right now for decorating his office-ha ha) to go purchase it. When I got back  this is what I found at home:

The desk had great lines and lots of potential, but needed some serious work.  After taking the knobs off I had to sand down 2 of the drawer fronts since they had lots of chipped veneer.  Once the piece was smooth I mixed up a grey home-make chalk paint and started painting.  I hand painted the details with white chalk paint and then distressed and chipped the paint.  The last step was to seal the desk with dark wax and hemp oil and add new glass knobs.

I love how it looks now!

  6. You did a wonderful job! I also like your silver pitcher. I just shared a post about that on Nifty Thrifty Sunday. Looks similar. I spent most of Friday painting with chalk paint for the first time. Just need some finishing touches. Have a great day! Diane

  11. What a transformation! You did quite an amazing job - it's utterly beautiful now. When I see these types of changes I think I've really got to start painting furniture. As an artist with a background in painting, I should be a natural, but I've never been much of a DIYer. You're inspiring me, I must say... :-)
