Karate board tuned Valentine

My daughter does Korean Martial Arts and they often break boards in class, so we have a pile of broken boards around the house.  My daughter likes to bring them home and then she loses interest in them so they end up in my office.  My friend Suzan came over today and wanted to work on a Valentine project/cards.  I printed out some great valentine pictures from the Graphics Fairy on to card stock and we made some cheery cards.  She likes to embellish with glitter and they were very cute.  I had stacked a pile of broken boards from karate by the door to be recycled when I had a crafty thought.  I thought it would be fun to make some Valentines cards with the boards.
Here are a few broken karate boards:
I painted the boards a few different colors:
Got out some of my tools:
Twine and scissors holder from Decor Steals

Lower case stamps from the Flea Market

Martha Stewart Glitter Pens

I don't have a lot of patience for waiting so I got out my hair dryer and dried the boards and then Modge Podged the images onto the boards ( I used my dryer again to dry faster--impatient me).

My friend Suzan and I added glitter on some of the details to make them pop and we stamped sayings on the boards as well.

I added twine to the backs so they could be hung:

I love how they turned out with all the imperfections and I had fun with Suzan!

Flea Market Friday

As usual I was at the local Flea Market on Friday and found some treasures!  Fridays really are one the the best days of the week for many reasons and the Flea Market is one of them.

Here are some finds from Friday:
I love the bench and I bought it with a client in mind--she loved it!

I love all the great  frames and the vender wanted to get rid of all of them and leave so I got a good deal.
I see a a great old farm table in the future!
4 great vintage napkins
Crisp white queen duvet

Tea towels

4 placemates

Bracelets for my daughter and her friends

Russian Horse

Teal Towels

I see wearing this with my old cowboy boots and a jean jacket

Love all my stuff!

French Provincial Dresser

Once again at the local Flea Market I found a great treasure!   I am always on the look-out for dressers and I found a beauty this week.  I did not have enough $ so the vender let me put a deposit down and return with more $ for him.  What a nice guy!  I got the dresser for a good price, so I went home for more $ and my husband and his muscles!

Here is the before:

Not bad, but there were a lot of nicks and dings.  The dresser is made by Basset and has dove tailed drawers and is very well made.

My vision was for the dresser was to be a soft grey and the details white.  I mixed up my own color of grey and made it into chalk paint.

After painting the dresser it looked  dull and needed something else, so I added MMS hemp oil and AS dark wax to the entire dresser.

Here are some pictures of the drawers with and without the wax.

Here is my lovely mixing concoction!
Wax/hemp oil concoction on, but not wiped down:

 wiped down:

Viola-done!

I washed the hardware with white chalk paint and wiped down

Love the curvy drawers!

Topiary from my favorite florist shop!
 A different look: Drama!

I love how it turned out!
