Wood and White Dresser

Another dresser, I know!  I seem to have a dresser obsession!
I found this cute, but orange and scratched up one at the Goodwill and it of course had to come home with me.
Before:
I decided the wood could be nice with a good sanding, so I pulled out my electric sander and the sawdust flew!  After sanding the top, knobs and drawer fronts, I sealed the wood with tung oil and AS dark wax.

I painted the base in Marshmallow Cream by The Urban Rooster.  I love the contrast of the wood and the white.

I am very happy with how this dresser turned out!

Berger and White Wax

As most of you know, I have a thing for painting dressers!  I found this great one at a local thrift store and it had to be loaded up and brought home.
Before:
The dresser is structurally sound and has great bones, but was pretty dinged and scratched up.  Berger by  Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint had just come in the mail and I wanted to try it on this piece.  Berger is a soft blue/grey and I thought this dresser would look stunning in it. After mixing the powder into paint, I painted on two coats and let the chippy magic happen!
I helped the chippiness  along by scraping it with my spackle knife.    Miss Mustard Seed's White wax had also come in the package, so I decided to use it on this piece too.  This wax is wonderful and so easy to use.  I dipped my wax brush into the wax and then brushed it on the dresser and wiped it in/off with a cotton rag.

I love how the white wax gives the dresser a washed, muted look.  It makes it look worn and soft sort of like driftwood.

I love the details

I love the legs and the wooden castors!

Bold Chair and Minted

November's Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest was sponsored by Minted   and the theme was  "taking a seat".

When I went to the Minted site, it was like being in an adult candy store!  So many gorgeous things and fabrics. It really was hard for me to decide what to order since there were so many beautiful choices, but I finally  I ordered my fabric and it came very quickly.

Petaled Echo and Chestnuts Fabric
I have been slowly trying to re-do my office and I decided to go with any-colors-I-like look.  I had a chair I had picked up at the Flea Market that was comfy, but not very interesting to me.
Before:
The first step in this transformation was to take off the old terry cloth fabric and remove the staples ( this is my least favorite part of upholstering!).  After removing about a million staples, I sanded the dark wood frame.

I then sealed the wood with tung oil and let it dry overnight.
To make the pattern for the chair I placed the old fabric on top of the new fabric and cut the same shape, but about 2-3 inches bigger.

Once the Petaled Echo fabric was cut, I stapled it on to the chair.  I am definitely not a professional upholsterer, but I tried my best.

I then cut the fabric very close to the staple line and attached the gimp with my hot-glue gun.  I was going to attempt double welting to hide the staples, but ran out of time.

I am loving the bold green color and print!

I love the natural wood

I upholstered the back of the chair with the other fabric I received called Chestnut.
