Chalkboard anything!

I heard about a product you could buy that lets you make a chalkboard out of anything so I went to my local craft/fabric store and found it.  It's called Clear Chalkboard coating by Americana.

Once again my daughter had some broken karate boards so I decided to use them to see if this product really worked.
Here are the plain wood boards:
Since Valentines Day is coming up I decided to mix some "Valentiney" colors--red-pink-green.  I just got out some craft paints and mixed away.
I let them dry (with the help of my blow dryer--I am very impatient at times!).  I next painted on the chalkboard coating--one coat vertical and one coat horizontal.

The next step was to coat the boards with chalk, wipe off, and then see if I could write on them.

Worked like a charm!

This product worked very well and was easy to use so now I can do more projects!

French Provincial Buffet

I need to finish the mirror on top and decorate it still

I have been looking for a large buffet for my dining area for awhile, but have not found what I have wanted.  Depending on my mood I picture different kinds of buffets.  I sold my current china hutch and this left an entire wall with nothing so I got serious and found a buffet the same day I sold my hutch.  I will show the entire new dinning area when I get it organized, but here is the new buffet.

Before:

It was in great shape, but had a lot of scratches on the top.  I have a 100+ old farm/beach cottage and wanted to have the buffet be a nice pop of color in my dinning area.  My old hutch had been white.  I mixed up my own concoction of a soft beachy blue chalk paint and started to paint away.  My husband like things very distressed, so I distressed the buffet and then sealed it with MMS hemp oil/AS dark wax.

This is a better picture of the true color

Love the hardware!

lovely feet

I love how the buffet turned out and I can't wait to put everything back inside and off my dinning table!!!

Green Chippy Milk Paint Dresser

At the local Flea Market I spotted this great old dresser and had to have it.  The drawers were a little wonky, but I knew it could be stunning so I bought it and brought it home.
Before:

I sanded the top and rubbed it with AS dark wax.

I mixed up some Niagara Green milk Paint from Homestead and started to paint away.

Love the hardware!

Chippiness at its BEST!

I love the variation in Milk Paint!

I Can't get enough of Milk Paint!

Pillow Talk

I wanted to try and make some cute pillows with a cute graphics.  After sewing up 2 white linen pillow shams I found a basic graphic from Graphics Fairy.com and printed it out.

I had ordered on line TAP paper to do this projects.

I have tried this paper before when my daughter and her friend wanted matching shirts to wear to school for twin day.  It was easy and they loved their matching shirts!

I printed the design non the paper from my office computer.
I cut around the design to get rid of the extra paper before I ironed it on.

I placed the image face down on the linen and ironed away!
Added the bird-

Done!

I like how they turned out, but I know what to do next time to make them better!

Gypsy Coral Desk

After painting the apron Strings dresser and posting it, I have gotten a lot of response from it.  A local Dealer saw the dresser and loved the color and she wanted me to paint a desk for her in a similar color.  I went to the local paint store with her and she picked out a coral color for her desk.

The desk BEFORE:

It was a great desk with lots of beautiful details, but the piece was very dark and scratched and she wanted it to be a pop of color in her house.  I mixed up my home-made chalk paint with Plaster of Paris and started to paint away.  After painting the desk I distressed and  hemp oiled/dark waxed it.

I delivered it and she LOVED it!
