Buffet in Chippy Ironstone

About a month ago I purchased this buffet from CL in anticipation of needing a vanity for my new bathroom in the remodel.
Before:

This buffet was in good shape and it has a story behind it.  When I went to buy the piece, the sellers asked me if I was related to Coach T and I said, yes he is my husband.  They then told me how Coach had really made a difference in their son's life and how thankful they were that he had taken an interest in their son.  They were not sure that their son would have made it through HS if it hadn't been for my husband, Coach T.  This was very nice to hear and now I have a personal connection to this buffet that will be turned into a vanity.  It is extra special now!

I wanted the buffet to have chippy rustic look with a touch of elegance, so I added a few appliqués from Doityourselfchic.com and painted it in Miss Mustard Seed Ironstone.  I had to lightly sand the piece first since it had a shiny surface, but it was easy sailing after that.  I sealed it with AS clear wax and I am just waiting for the marble top to come and then I will drop the sink in it.

Chippy Goodness!

Wreath applique

Love peonies!

I like that the front curves out a bit

I am hoping the marble top will come this week and it will be installed!

  10. Awesome! The thing I love most about this piece is how authentic that chippy finish looks! I also really like that ribbed detail at the bottom, middle, front of the piece. That sort of ribbing always looks amazing distressed. This is going to make a gorgeous vanity for your bathroom, I can't wait to see it in place.
