Large Ornate Mirror

I found this VERY large and heavy mirror at the Flea Market and I loved the shape, so I bought it because I knew it could be a stunner.
Before:

I mixed up a custom grey home-made chalk paint and started to paint away.  After the paint dried I watered down some white chalk paint and made a wash.  I painted this on with a wet brush and then quickly wiped it off.  I like how it softens the grey and stays in the crevices.  I also thought this mirror could use some bling, so I added gold Rub n Buff to some of the edges.  The final steep was sealing it with clear wax.

The mirror is so large and heavy that it was easier to take pictures in my yard by my workshop and not drag it inside.

I brought this mirror to Mes Amis and it sold.

  9. I hate to say it but I like the 'before' version better. To each his own I guess. It looks like you did a great job of making it look the way you wanted though.

  10. Thank you Judy--in real life the mirror was pretty ugly-the picture doesn't show the dings and scratches. I needed it to sell fast since it was so big.
