Aqua Cottage Cabinet

I was looking on Craiglslist awhile back and found this great set of furniture including this cabinet.
Before:
The cabinet was in good condition, but pretty dark and I wanted to lighten it up and make it fresh.  I had this picture in my head of it being in a cottage by the sea so I mixed up a light aqua home made chalk paint and got to painting.  After painting the cabinet I sealed it with dark wax and hemp oil.  I had to take pictures in my driveway (please excuse the lighting) since it was being loaded up and taken to a local antique shop.

Lovely side details

Gorgeous Fret work

  5. Such a pretty color...and the finish looks so smooth...not rough and chalky looking. Love the aging through the dark wax/glaze.

  12. Love, love, love this! Don't tell my husband! He would be jealous! (because if I found this cabinet first I might have married it instead of him) You took a pretty piece and made it drop dead gorgeous. What are you going to do with it now?

    1. Thank you-I won't tell your husband-it will be our little secret! A local dealer loved it and took it into her shop and I have it posted on Craigslist. Once I am done with a piece and want it gone so I have room for new pieces!

  14. Such a pretty colour and the piece is lovely. I have a dark sideboard waiting next in line in our garage for a makeover. I'm trying to decide between white, black or a pretty aqua. The color will depend on whether I decide to keep it or sell it.
